A cursory glance at our own body reveals the incredible range and splendor of this cellular diversity. How do cells take on such different forms and function in a developing organism? And how do cells communicate with each other? .

How do organisms evolve to deal with adversity? How does a cell control which genes are being expressed and when? How does a developing animal know its head from its tail? These are some of the big questions we address in Bi 1x. We explore the great ideas of biology not just with our minds, but with our hands, with microscopes, and with computers.
